Dear Clare, thank you so much for getting in touch. We would love to have you on board. Unfortunately, being such a small project at the moment, we are not able to pay travel expenses. The project is entirely self funded and any money we save at this stage goes into acquiring more plants, fencing and eventually, we hope, a shed/classroom.
That said, if you can make your way up either by public transport or by bike (the Lewes rd cycle lane is getting much better with the new works) we hope that you would enjoy your time with us.
The fruit trees are finally coming into bud and i saw our resident frog for the first time this year on the w.e. along with busy bumbles and birds doing their spring dance.
NB for personal reasons we will not be at PGP this coming Friday 19th, but will be back to normal next week (26th).
      Best wishes, Lisa

Just spent a brilliant day volunteering at the Physic Garden- a bunch of us went from work & helped weed out old beds & made them ready for planting. Very satisfying work, beautiful surroundings, & during the day Lisa told us all about the various herbs & their medicinal uses-fascinating stuff. She also let us know which plants were weeds & which were herbs so we didn’t pull up established plants-essential for the uninitiated! Chie was there too, doing all-important maintenance of the beds that had already been planted, & getting hot water on the go for refreshing cups of lemon balm & mint tea! Altogether a great experience, one which we all thoroughly enjoyed & one which I shall certainly be repeating. This is such a worthwhile project & I would urge anyone who has even a slight interest in gardening & natural remedies to go along & lend a hand!

    Hello

I’m interested in learning more about the project with a view to volunteering. I am at Fork and Dig it most Fridays between 10.30ish and 2ish . Are you there tomorrow (10th Jan. 2014)? If so, when would be a good time to pop across and see you? Or would next Fri 17th be possible to visit you?

    Thanks,
    M

Hello, I would love to meet before Friday. Here is a link to my blog and also information about an event I am organising this Friday titled Ecologies of Intimacy: Sensing Place. I hope this is relevant and you might be able to join us. In any case it would be great to talk to you (even if via the phone) before the end of the week. πŸ™‚
This is a free workshop for artists, herbalists, scientists and others interested in place and our relationship with it through smell and taste.

The first part of the workshop will be a short talk by anthropologist and archaeologist *Judith van der Elst* (asthecrow.net ) who has been exploring alternative ways of mapping space based our senses. This will be followed by a practical session led by artists *Raewyn Turner and Brian Harris *who combine art, engineering and science to create experiments around olfactory perception (raewynturner.com ). Using alternative mapping methods and our (human) ability to sense we will create personal olfactory maps using the Field site at University of Brighton and materials from other locations around the city.

To register for a place please email Magda Tyzlik-Carver m.tyzlik-carver@sussex.ac.uk no later than 6pm on Wednesday 15 June, with a short paragraph outlining how the workshop is relevant to your practice or interests.

    See details and programme https://ecologiesofintimacy.wordpress.com/2016/06/10/sensing-place-workshop-17-june-2016/
